Nonye Mpho Omotola

Nonye is a Strategic Communications consultant with over 20 years’ strategic experience gained in the UK, South Africa and Nigeria. She holds a BA Hons in Contemporary Business and Computing from the University of Westminster, London and was awarded the Brand Leadership Award at the World Brand Congress in Mumbai for her professional and creative and strategic excellence. She is a member of several professional institutions and contributes to several African media titles including being a guest lecturer at Gordon’s Institute of Business to master’s students, on Executing Marketing Strategies in Africa and to senior executives on Doing Business in Africa.

She has gained extensive experience in the global PR, branding and advertising spheres having started her career in London at Maynard Leigh Associates; followed by TMP Worldwide and a number of leading firms in Europe and parts of Africa including Jupiter Drawing Room, Johannesburg; FCB, Durban; and Insight grey, Lagos where she was Director of Strategic Planning and New Business. Nonye was also the Group Head of Corporate Communications at Oceanic Bank Nigeria, (now Eco bank) where she reported directly to the Group Managing Director and achieved great success in the turnaround of a ‘crisis brand’.

At MultiChoice Africa she was Stakeholder and CSI Manager for Africa, driving brand positioning and social impact across the continent, stakeholder engagement and shared value with projects such as the CNN MultiChoice African Journalist Awards, the DStv Eutelsat Awards reinforcing the importance of science education and the implantation of the MultiChoice Educational Resource Centres in local communities. She is currently a Senior consultant for Africa Communications Media Group after operating as its Managing Director for two years.

With strong stakeholder relations in South Africa and rest of Africa, her key skills include, stakeholder management, media relations, the development of communication strategies, project and reputation management and thought leader positioning. She has led many ventures in numerous countries for the positioning of brands with great team building and management skills in addition to shared value projects.

She is passionate about the growth of economies on the African continent and has been described as a Global African Communicator, and a detailed Corporate Strategist as profiled by Marketing World. She is particularly driven by socio economic impact initiatives in local and regional communities.

For Forbes Woman Africa she notably interviewed, Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Former Minister of Finance Nigeria Brand SA Chairperson Charlotte Maponya and Mrs Folorunso Alakija for Destiny Magazine. She has also facilitated a communications workshop at the Obama Foundation, Leaders Africa. Nonye sits on the Brand Africa Counsel an inter-generational movement to create a positive image of Africa and is on the board of (NIDO SA) Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation South Africa. Born and raised in the UK, her diverse upbringing and skill set puts her in a position whereby not only is she fully conversant with local and global trends, but is uniquely able to integrate across cultures and lifestyles. She is committed to the positive projection of the African continent and is frequently invited to speak at local and international conferences.
