1Mother1Child is changing the lives of Children & young adults, through tangible educational support. The Call to Motherhood is a call to Leadership, therefore AWLO is encouraging women leaders to Sign up to the #1Mother1Child program, to support the education of at least one Child/Young Adult.
AWLO also seeks help to sustain our pool of children & young adults from IDP Camps, Orphanages, and Public Schools enrolled in the program through donation and sponsorship/partnership.
Our instruments so far have been tuition, scholarships, exchange programs, back to school packs, Free Professional Trainings, Examination Preparatory Classes, Post-Secondary Examination Enrollment and others.

His Excellency, Gen. Yakubu Gowon (GCFR)

His Excellency, Gen. Yakubu Gowon is a former Military Head of State of Nigeria, from 1966-75. He is the President and Chairman Board of Trustees of The Yakubu Gowon Centre for National Unity and International Co-operation (YGC); an NGO to further the cause of Nigerian unity for a strong and united Nigeria, free of disease and poverty, where every citizen has an opportunity for self-expression and the realization of their full potentials.

Her Excellency, Professor (Dame) Uche Azikiwe (MFR)

Her Excellency, Professor (Dame) Uche Azikiwe is a Nigerian academic, educator and author. She is the widow of former President of Nigeria Nnamdi Azikiwe She is a professor at University of Nigeria, Nsukka. In 1999, she was appointed to the board of directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Chief (Dr.) Opral Benson is the Chairperson AWLO Board of Trustees. She is the Liberian Consulate to Nigeria, and pioneer beauty expert in Nigeria. She is wife of Late Senator Benson, she is a serial achiever with impressive track record in Public and Private Sector Management. She currently sits on the Board of many corporations including Guarantee Trust Bank, Nigeria and a recipient of numerous awards in Africa and beyond.

Dr. Violet Arene is a key contributor to the New Education policy of 6-3-3-4 system. Since retirement as General Manager of NNPC she now runs her private Management Consultancy practice. Also very dear to her heart, is the movement to empower young women which she forges through her TV Show – Voice of Eve, and not-for-profit, and as the Global Youth Matron of AWLO, where she is also a board member. Dr. Arene is author of nineteen books.

Her Excellency, Eberechi Suzzette Wike has an outstanding Law Career spanning 20 years of experience. She has steadily risen through the ranks since 1997, and is currently a High Court Judge in Rivers State Nigeria. She is also the First lady of Rivers State Nigeria.

Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo is a Nigerian medical doctor, politician and the first female Deputy Governor of Rivers State. A member of the People’s Democratic Party, She has assumed the positions of Director of Public Health Services, Acting Commissioner, Director-General and Permanent Secretary in Rivers State Nigeria. She achieved prominence first in 1995, as Secretary to the Government of Rivers State before serving as Head of Service of the state. She was elected Deputy Governor and assumed office on 29 May 2015.

Senator Florence Ita-Giwa is a spouse of the late journalist Dele Giwa.
she was elected a member of the Federal House of Representatives 1992-93. She became involved in Bakassi affairs, and earned the nickname “Mama Bakassi“.
She was elected Senator for the Cross River South constituency of Cross River State, Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, from May 1999 to May 2003. After leaving the senate in 2003, she joined the People’s Democratic Party PDP, and became President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Special Adviser on National Assembly Matters.

Captain Kgomotso Phatsima is a military pilot and a flight safety officer in Botswana Defence Force. She is among the first female officers to ever fly the country’s military planes with 8years experience in military aviation.
Captain Kgomotso Phatsima is the President of Dare to Dream, a non profit organisation aimed at encouraging the advancement of youth, women and girls in aviation and aerospace as well as STEM education awareness. She is also a Co Founder and a member of Women in Aviation Botswana Chapter.

Onofiok Akpan Luke is a lawyer and legislator in Akwa Ibom State Nigeria. He is the current Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. In his local constituency, Luke’s achievements are mostly evident in his efforts towards youth capacity-building and in his human empowerment initiatives. More than 600 youths and women have benefited from both schemes in two years. He is an Associate Fellow of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI). He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
